Maria Vedder works as a media artist since the late seventies and has exhibited in Europe, Australia and Asia, her videos have been shown all over the world.
Her works are in the collections of the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Germany; Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Germany; Tate Gallery, Liverpool, England; Gallery Shimada, Yamaguchi-Shi, Japan; Gallery Scan, Tokyo, Japan; and others.
She has written books about video: „Kunst und Video“ and „DuMonts Handbuch der Videopraxis“ (DuMont-publishing house, Cologne, Germany).
In 2012 she received the grant EMARE MEXICO of the European Commission. 2014 she won the special of the jury of the Kunstpreis/art-award “Haus am Kleistpark Berlin”.
She has spent long periods doing artistic research in Asia, where she has also has been a guest lecturer on numerous occasions.
After some guest professorships at several universities she has been a full professor at the Berlin University of the Arts, Germany, from 1991 – 2014.
